Fashion-inspired Home Decor

Hiroshi Tanabe for Pucci Spring / Summer '02 - Vogue's Art in Fashion
I think this would look lovely in the hallway - I think of British summers when I look at this illustration. |
The press has been filled with coverage from the London and Paris fashion weeks recently. Although I find most runway shows pretty pretentious, I'm pretty partial to fashion art. Have a look below at some fashion-inspired art which you can purchase and adorn the walls of your home with. Bright, beautiful & not at all pretentious!
I came across a fabulous collection of fashion art on the Vogue website: http://www.vogue.co.uk/spy/art-in-fashion
Tanaba and Downton's works are available for purchase & delivery.
This is David Downton's illustration for Dior Couture spring/summer 2011. I like the contrast between the strong lines in the top half, and the splodge of watercolour in the bottom half.

Jacqueline Bissett Illustrations
I came across British illustrator Jacqueline Bissett in a Waitrose supermarket when looking for a birthday card for a friend; it was a card with an illustration of a striking model wearing a gorgeous black dress. A bit of googling informed me that British-born Jacqueline was trained at the Epsom School of Art and has created illustrations for several leading fashion brands. Below are a few favourites....
Lips, Lips, Lips!
I've seen several clothing brands with lip motifs printed or sewn onto tops, so this is definitely a motif that's current and on-trend. How cool would this look on a bedroom or bathroom wall? Pucker up!
Lips & Smiles: place in the hallway to perk you up in the morning before going to work & returning home after a hard day's work
A personal favourite. Chic & unapologetic!
A stunning illustration of a woman in a striking, haute couture dress. I love Jacqueline Bissett's combination of carefree watercolours & lines to add definition to the figure
This illustration is very season appropriate. A quirky, fashionable addition to a kitchen or conservatory wall. Never has gardening looked so glamorous!
The landscape layout of this painting makes it perfect for a living room wall. This illustration reminds of a weekend break to Paris a couple of years ago: there are literally dozens of cosy cafes on every road!

Designer Home Decor
There are also several websites selling designer home decor products. Here are some gorgeous pieces from Missoni, Ralph Lauren, Christian Lacroix, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Paul Smith. They are a tad more pricey than the average home decor products, but undeniably unique.....
In keeping with the Spring theme, have a look at these beautiful cushions from Christian Lacroix, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Paul Smith. Colourful florals and stripes will brighten up any corner of the room, but place against a plain-coloured sofa or armchair for maximum effect!

Paul Smith's designs are probably some of the most distinctive out there. I came across his rug designs on his website. Take a look below at how his rugs can brighten up a study or games room.

| A charming Paul Smith wall art. Romantic, patriotic, and just gorgeous |
Designer wallpaper is admittedly pricey but well worth the investment, I think. Here is a small selection from Vivienne Westwood, Ralph Lauren, and Christian Lacroix.

Like Paul Smith, Missoni's designs are equally distinctive and colourful. I flicked through the Amara Designer Homeware online store and found these bright bedroom and kitchenware pieces.
